Zoom in! Japanese-German Energy Transition Talks on Energy Security in Decarbonized Power Systems

On 29 October, the Japanese-German Energy Partnership team addressed energy security in decarbonized electricity systems in Germany and Japan during the seventh event of the “Zoom In! - Japanese-German Energy Transition Talks” series. During the event, Dr. Matthias Stark, Head of Renewable Energy Systems (German Renewable Energy Federation (BEE)), and Mitsuaki Ota, Senior Researcher at Electric Group The Institute of Energy Economics Japan (IEEJ), spoke about possible designs of the renewable electricity systems of the future. First, Mr. Ota presented the results of the electricity market study by the German-Japanese Energy Transition Council (GJETC) and explained the types of flexibility and various reform options in Japan. Mr. Stark then presented the BEE's electricity market study, which describes in detail the market and energy supply prospects in a fully renewable energy system, among other things.
