WG1: Exchange on Methane Emissions in the Energy Sector
On 17 January, the Japanese-German Energy Partnership held an insightful exchange on methane emissions reduction in the energy sector, bringing together experts from both partner ministries to discuss European and Japanese approaches to this critical challenge.
During the session, representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) shared valuable insights on Japan's CLEAN initiative, while theFederal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy discussed the EU Methane regulation framework and work of the International Methane Emissions Observatory - IMEO. The exchange highlighted the importance of international collaboration in addressing methane emissions in the energy sector. Participants agreed that enhanced cooperation between European and Japanese stakeholders is essential to effectively reduce methane emissions in the energy sector and achieve shared climate goals.
The dialogue demonstrated the strong commitment of both sides to tackle methane emissions and laid the groundwork for future collaborative efforts in this crucial area of energy transition.
