About the Global Offshore Wind Summit, Tuesday, 3 and Wednesday, 4 September 2024:

“The Global Offshore Wind Summit-Japan (GOWS-J) is Japan's leading offshore wind power event, aimed at leveraging Japan's significant potential and robust industrial foundation in offshore wind power generation.

Bringing together over 700 participants from domestic and international offshore wind power markets, this event features expert lectures, discussions, exhibitions, and networking opportunities. Additionally, it collaborates with host municipalities to contribute to regional consensus building on offshore wind power.

GOWS-J is organized jointly by the Japan Wind Power Association (JWPA) and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) under the Global Partner Agreement signed between the two organizations.”

Joint German Offshore Wind Booth

Following the Hokkaido-Sapporo Declaration in spring 2023, which included participation from representatives of the German business community in Japan, the upcoming summit in Global Offshore Wind Sapporo offers an excellent opportunity to forge new German-Japanese collaborations and strengthen existing ones. At this year’s summit in Sapporo, there will be a booth dedicated to showcasing the German offshore wind sector.

Floating Offshore Wind Technologies

Expert Workshop with Networking by the Japanese-German Energy Partnership

Time: 11:30 – 13:30 JST

Location: Sapporo Convention Center, Room 107&108

Language: English-Japanese with simultaneous translation

On the second day of GOWS, the Japanese-German Energy Partnership will host an expert workshop and networking session on the topic of " Floating Offshore Wind Technologies". A representative from the German Ministry of Economy and Climate Action (BMWK) and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will provide updates on the current status of floating wind technology in their respective countries. This will be followed by presentations from various German and Japanese companies and institutions. This workshop is part of the activities of the Japanese-German Energy Partnership Working Group 1: Energy Transition. The networking lunch will offer a platform for attendees to engage with the speakers and connect with each other.

GOWS participants are welcome to attend this workshop. However, we kindly request your cooperation to register in advance in order to accurately track the number of attendees and to facilitate the distribution of presentations at a later date.
